FRIDAY JUNE 20

Wests Tigers vs Canberra Raiders at Campbelltown Sports Stadium, 8:00pm AEST

Tigers team: 1. Jahream Bula 2. Sunia Turuva 3. Adam Doueihi 4. Starford To’a 5. Jeral Skelton 6. Heath Mason 7. Jarome Luai 8. Terrell May 9. Apisai Koroisau 10. Fonua Pole 11. Samuela Fainu 12. Alex Seyfarth 13. Alex Twal 14. Tallyn Da Silva 15. Sione Fainu 16. Latu Fainu 17. Jack Bird 18. Tony Sukkar 19. Charlie Murray 20. Charlie Staines 21. Kit Laulilii 22. Izaac Tu’itupou

Analysis: Prop Fonua Pole returns from a knee injury with Sione Fainu shifting to the bench. Lock Alex Twal (concussion) also makes a comeback, while Tallyn Da Silva has joined the bench. Charlie Murray and Kit Laulilii drop to the reserves.

Raiders team: 1. Kaeo Weekes 2. Jed Stuart 3. Matthew Timoko 4. Sebastian Kris 5. Xavier Savage 6. Ethan Strange 7. Jamal Fogarty 8. Josh Papali’i 9. Tom Starling 10. Joseph Tapine 11. Hudson Young 12. Zac Hosking 13. Corey Horsburgh 14. Owen Pattie 15. Simi Sasagi 16. Morgan Smithies 17. Ata Mariota 18. Noah Martin 19. Chevy Stewart 20. Danny Levi 21. Ethan Sanders 22. Pasami Saulo

Analysis: Winger Jed Stuart, the son of coach Ricky will make his NRL debut taking over from Savelio Tamale who is out with a (knee) injury. After being 18th man in four games this season, 23-year-old Stuart gets his crack in the top grade in a huge reward for some strong NSW Cup performances. He was pulled from reserve grade last week in a telling sign he would suit up in first grade, with the Stuart name once again donning the famous green jersey. The 23-year-old has been biding his time, with 57 Cup games to his name since his first appearance in 2022, forced to play the long game. Stuart clearly didn’t want to be giving any handouts to his son, and he almost didn’t even include the rising star in Canberra’s squad to travel to Las Vegas. That was until the senior players stepped in and made sure he was there, not because he was the coach’s son, but because he deserved it. Fast forward 16 rounds and Stuart will finally take the field alongside that same group who vouched for him. Stuart is a hulking winger, standing at 193 centimetres tall and will undoubtedly give Jamal Fogarty a target to kick to alongside Matt Timoko. He also previously represented Australian in Rugby Sevens, becoming the fourth father and son duo to play for the Raiders. “I just want to thank all the staff that helped you get here and all the players that put you here this weekend, because Dad may never have done that. It would have taken him longer,” Stuart’s mum Kaylie said in his jersey presentation. Meanwhile, Blues back-rower Hudson Young has been named to back up from Origin, but could be rested later in the week.

SATURDAY JUNE 21

New Zealand Warriors vs Penrith Panthers at Go Media Stadium, 3:00pm AEST

Warriors team: 1. Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad 2. Dallin Watene-Zelezniak 3. Adam Pompey 4. Moala Graham-Taufa 5. Roger Tuivasa-Sheck 6. Chanel Harris-Tavita 7. Luke Metcalf 8. James Fisher-Harris 9. Wayde Egan 10. Marata Niukore 11. Leka Halasima 12. Jacob Laban 13. Erin Clark 14. Te Maire Martin 15. Jackson Ford 16. Demitric Vaimauga 17. Tanner Stowers-Smith 18. Samuel Healey 20. Bunty Afoa 21. Tanah Boyd 22. Edward Kosi 23. Eddie Ieremia

Analysis: Centre Moala Graham-Taufa will play his first NRL game since Round 22 last year coming in for Kurt Capewell, who will be rested after Origin. Wayde Egan returns from a hip injury at hooker, with Sam Healey shifting to 18th man. Centres Rocco Berry (hamstring) and Ali Leiataua (ankle) remain sidelined.

Panthers team: 1. Daine Laurie 2. Thomas Jenkins 3. Izack Tago 4. Casey McLean 5. Paul Alamoti 6. Blaize Talagi 7. Brad Schneider 8. Moses Leota 9. Mitch Kenny 10. Lindsay Smith 11. Scott Sorensen 12. Isaiah Papali’i 13. Matt Eisenhuth 14. Trent Toelau 15. Liam Henry 16. Luron Patea 17. Luke Garner 18. Luke Sommerton 19. Jack Cole 20. Mavrik Geyer 21. Preston Riki 22. Austin Dias 23. Harrison Hassett 24. Jaxen Edgar

Analysis: Ivan Cleary has opted to rest Origin stars Dylan Edwards, Nathan Cleary, Isaah Yeo, Brian To’o and Liam Martin, but NSW reserve Lindsay Smith has been named to play. It’s an incredibly tough ask for Penrith’s Origin guns to make the trip from Perth to New Zealand in the second shortest back up of any game and Ivan Cleary had his feelings clear after Round 14. “The Origin players won’t be playing because they can’t,” he said. “I don’t think it’s fair that we can’t play… we should be able to make that decision. Through flights, we just can’t get them there.” The Panthers then back up five days later against the Bulldogs on Thursday night, who currently lead the competition. Former general manager Phil Gould even backed up Cleary, slamming the NRL’s scheduling mishap. “What about the ridiculous scheduling for the poor old Panthers this week,” Gould said. “They are playing on Wednesday night in Perth, all these Origin players, and they’ve got them backing up on Friday night in New Zealand. “How would they expect those players to back up? It’s terrible. If I was the Panthers club, I would be blowing up deluxe. They’re not going to take their Origin players across.” Gould was also of the belief the NRL scheduled these fixtures with the belief the Panthers wouldn’t be in a fight to scrape into the top eight. “Someone at the NRL probably said, ‘Oh it doesn’t matter, they won’t play anyway’, but in previous years, they were leading the comp. Now they are in a battle for the top eight and I’m sure they would have loved to have had those Origin players available.” Meanwhile, Daine Laurie comes in at fullback, with Paul Alamoti on the wing, Brad Schneider at halfback and Isaiah Papali’i starts in the back row. Matt Eisenhuth comes in at lock, while prop Liam Henry returns from suspension on the bench alongside Trent Toelau, Luron Patea and Luke Garner.

Dolphins vs Newcastle Knights at HBF Park, Perth, 5:30pm AEST

Dolphins team: 1. Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow 2. Jamayne Isaako 3. Jake Averillo 4. Herbie Farnworth 5. Jack Bostock 6. Kodi Nikorima 7. Isaiya Katoa 8. Francis Molo 9. Jeremy Marshall-King 10. Mark Nicholls 11. Kulikefu Finefeuiaki 12. Oryn Keeley 13. Kurt Donoghoe 14. Harrison Graham 15. Connelly Lemuelu 16. Ray Stone 17. Josh Kerr 18. Sean O’Sullivan 19. Max Feagai 20. Aublix Tawha 21. Trai Fuller 22. Peter Hola

Analysis: Maroons star Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow has been named to back up from Origin, with Jake Averillo rshifting to the centres and Max Feagai to the reserves. With Felise Kaufusi suspended, Mark Nicholls starts in the front row with Harrison Graham joining the bench.

Knights team: 1. Kalyn Ponga 2. Dominic Young 3. Dane Gagai 4. Bradman Best 5. Greg Marzhew 6. Fletcher Sharpe 7. Jack Cogger 8. Tyson Frizell 9. Jayden Brailey 10. Mathew Croker 11. Dylan Lucas 12. Kai Pearce-Paul 13. Phoenix Crossland 14. Brodie Jones 15. Thomas Cant 16. Jermaine McEwen 17. Elijah Leaumoana 18. James Schiller 19. Jackson Hastings 20. Fletcher Hunt 21. Kyle McCarthy 22. Jack Hetherington

Analysis: Dom Young is back at the club he scored 43 tries for in 51 games for before linking with the Roosters for the past two years. Unfortunately, wing was one of the few positions the Knights were doing okay in, with James Schiller and young gun Fletcher Hunt now out of the team after Bradman Best also returned from a hamstring injury this week. Still Young’s try-scoring ability could be just what the Knights need to unlock Kalyn Ponga and their attack. Ponga has been named to back up from Origin and Knights fans will be praying he gets through the game unscathed. With Ponga’s return, Fletcher Sharpe switches back to five-eighth ending Jackson Hastings’ brief return to the side, but he remains in the reserves. Tyson Frizell is also back from concussion with Brodie Jones switching to the bench and Kyle McCarthy dropping to the reserves. Jack Hetnerington is bidding to return from a shoulder injury via the reserves. With some troops finally back on deck, the Knights can make a run at the finals at the back end of the season after Origin wraps up. But in 15th place and two wins outside the top eight with a poor points differential, they need to start winning some games and by big margins if they are any hope of finals footy.

South Sydney Rabbitohs vs Melbourne Storm at Accor Stadium, 7:35pm AEST

Rabbitohs team: 1. Latrell Mitchell 2. Alex Johnston 3. Jack Wighton 4. Isaiah Tass 5. Tyrone Munro 6. Lewis Dodd 7. Jamie Humphreys 8. Jai Arrow 9. Siliva Havili 10. Davvy Moale 11. Euan Aitken 12. Tallis Duncan 13. Lachlan Hubner 14. Ryan Gray 15. Sean Keppie 16. Liam Le Blanc 17. Tevita Tatola 18. Salesi Ataata 19. Keaon Koloamatangi 20. Cody Walker 21. Campbell Graham 22. Jacob Host

Analysis: Souths’ horror season with injuries has continued with Jye Gray out for six to eight weeks with a dislocated and fractured thumb. Meanwhile, Jayden Sullivan is sidelined for two to three weeks with a calf injury. Star prop Keaon Koloamatangi suffered a suspected fractured cheekbone but will not require surgery and is a day to day proposition to play this week. Latrell Mitchell has been named to back up from Origin at fullback with Gray sidelined. Lewis Dodd, who has struggled since signing a $650,000 deal to join the Rabbitohs, gets another crack in the halves, unless Cody Walker makes a successful return from a groin injury after being named in the reserves. Campbell Graham is also bidding to return from back spasms via the reserves, which would likely see Isaiah Tass make way. Davvy Moale has been promoted to start at prop with Sean Keppie joining the bench if Koloamatangi does not recover in time. Souths should buy a lottery ticket because their luck has to turn soon after a horror year with injuries, but now in 14th place, they need to start winning soon or their finals hopes will be gone. Unfortunately they have a horror record against the Storm.

Storm team: 1. Ryan Papenhuyzen 2. Grant Anderson 3. Jack Howarth 4. Nick Meaney 5. Xavier Coates 6. Cameron Munster 7. Jahrome Hughes 8. Stefano Utoikamanu 9. Harry Grant 10. Josh King 11. Shawn Blore 12. Eliesa Katoa 13. Trent Loiero 14. Tyran Wishart 15. Nelson Asofa-Solomona 16. Tui Kamikamica 17. Bronson Garlick 18. Ativalu Lisati 19. Alec MacDonald 20. Sualauvi Faalogo 21. Joe Chan 22. Lazarus Vaalepu 23. Keagan Russell-Smith 24. Kane Bradley

Analysis: The club’s Origin contingent of Cameron Munster, Harry Grant, Trent Loiero, Xavier Coates and Stefano Utoikamanu have all been named to back up from Origin, but could be rested later in the week. Bronson Garlick joins the bench for Ativalu Lisati, while back-rower Alec MacDonald is listed among the reserves as he looks to return from a quad injury.

Makahesi Makatoa and Taylor Losalu drop to the reserves.

Cowboys team: 1. Scott Drinkwater 2. Robert Derby 3. Zac Laybutt 4. Viliami Vailea 5. Murray Taulagi 6. Jaxon Purdue 7. Tom Dearden 8. Jordan McLean 9. Reece Robson 10. Coen Hess 11. John Bateman 12. Thomas Duffy 24. Marly Bitungane

Analysis: Two players return from a suspension for the Cowboys this week. Viliame Vailea displaces Braidon Burns while John Bateman slots in to the back row. Tom Dearden, Reece Robson, Jeremiah Nanai and Reuben Cotter have all been named to back up from Origin Game II and Todd Payten will be hopeful they can do so. Kaiden Lahrs and Tom Duffy are the odd ones out and drop off the pine, while Harrison Edwards and Sam McIntyre have been named on the bench.

Parramatta Eels vs Gold Coast Titans at CommBank Stadium, 6:15pm AEST

Eels team: 1. Isaiah Iongi 2. Zac Lomax 3. Viliami Penisini 4. Sean Russell 5. Josh Addo-Carr 6. Joash Papali’i 7. Dean Hawkins 8. Jack Williams 9. Ryley Smith 10. Junior Paulo 11. Kelma Tuilagi 12. Kitione Kautoga 13. J’maine Hopgood 14. Dylan Walker 15. Matt Doorey 16. Wiremu Greig 17. Jordan Samrani 18. Joey Lussick 19. Charlie Guymer 20. Dan Keir 21. Ronald Volkman 22. Samuel Loizou

Analysis: A new halves pairing for the Eels with Dylan Brown suspended and Mitchell Moses suffering a calf injury. Dean Hawkins wears the No.7, while Joash Papalii slots in at five-eighth. Getting through the Origin period and time without Moses seriously hampered Parramatta in 2024. Brown, who departs at the end of the season on a $13 million deal, failed to fire in the No.7 jersey, while Daejarn Asi and Ethan Sanders tried and were unable to deliver alongside him. However, Jason Ryles went about sureing up his halves ahead of the 2025 season, signing Hawkins, Papalii and Ronald Volkman. Moses is now set to be sidelined for four weeks, but Brown will be back after his suspension. However, in the short term Parramatta fans can have confidence their depth can stand tall during this period, unlike in years gone by. Hawkins in particular has been impressive, recording a four try assists in his last outing against the Sea Eagles. Papalii meanwhile, has shown glimpses of talent in his three appearances off the bench, but gets his first start in the halves in Round 16. Meanwhile, Zac Lomax has been named and only an injury will stop him from suiting up for the Eels while Wiremu Greig makes his first NRL appearance since Round 24 of the 2024 season.

Titans team: 1. AJ Brimson 2. Alofiana Khan-Pereira 3. Jojo Fifita 4. Phillip Sami 5. Allan Fitzgibbon 6. Kieran Foran 7. Jayden Campbell 8. Jaimin Jolliffe 9. Sam Verrills 10. Reagan Campbell-Gillard 11. Chris Randall 12. Beau Fermor 13. Klese Haas 14. Jacob Alick-Wiencke 15. Iszac Fa’asumaleaui 16. Tino Fa’asuamaleaui 17. Moeaki Fotuaika 18. David Fifita 19. Tukimihia Simpkins 20. Sean Mullany 21. Tom Weaver 22. Brian Kelly

Analysis: Des Hasler has named Origin duo Tino Fa’asuamaleaui and Moeaki Fotuaika on the bench for their Round 16 clash, hoping his stars will be able to back up. David Fifita has been named at 18th man as he eyes a return from an ankle injury. Brian Kelly has been dropped for Jojo Fifita who also returns from a hand injury.
