David Fifita has reportedly contacted legendary coach Wayne Bennett to discuss a potential move to Souths as the star forward nears a return from injury.
Bennett boasts a terrific track record of improving inconsistent talent under his watch, and he could soon have a new project.
According to Triple M, Fifita put in a call to Bennett, asking if there is room for him at the Rabbitohs.

“Reports are going around that a phone call has been made to Wayne Bennett by David Fifita to see if there is any position for him at Heffron Park,” it was reported on Triple M with Beau, Tarsh & Woodsy.
“David Fifita believes South Sydney will have a chance at a premiership in the next two years.”
Fifita has been plagued by injuries this season but when he has seen the field, his form has been well down on what he’s capable of.
He hasn’t featured at NRL level since Round 8 although coach Des Hasler says Fifita is “close” to returning from an ankle injury.
A devastating forward at his best, Fifita has had a underwhelming couple of seasons since backflipping on the Roosters early last year.
Fifita had agreed to a deal with the Roosters before deciding to ultimately reject it to stay on the Gold Coast.
