South Sydney, in a battle to avoid the wooden spoon, bested the Eels 20-16 and has multiple chances to lose that game, if it wasn’t for Gray.
The gun fullback stopped Isaiah Iongi in his tracks after a Parramatta break, with Jason Ryles’ side looking certain to score.
He also then on the very next tackle blocked Dylan Walker, who poked his nose through the line in the second half.
Alongside Gray with a five Red Zone rating is Scott Drinkwater and Ronaldo Mulitalo who both had days out in their respective wins.
